Uganda

Buvuma Island (The Baganda People)

Rick and Brenda Smith are stationed in Jinja, and work together with national pastors who have just finished seminary. Buvuma Island is a primitive island with no electricity or water. Access to the island requires a long, slow boat ride. Witchcraft is prominent among the Baganda people.

PRESENT MINISTRIES: The Smiths are in the process of building relationships with the Baganda people on the island. They have held several Bibles studies and teachings with the help of the national pastor. They have conducted several medical clinics by using a local Ugandan doctor.

FUTURE AREAS OF MINISTRY: The island is very primitive and is in need of sanitary processes. The Smiths would like to establish several pit latrines and a water filtration system for drinking water.

AREAS OF SUPPORT: Prayer, volunteers, financial (special projects)

Rick and Brenda are Church Planters who are supported by the International Mission Board. They are on “quick turn around” in order to return to Uganda as Associate Missionaries in June.
